When Kenshin first meets Tomoe, he wonders whether he should kill her since she saw him "at work." Then, when she passes out, he carries her back to his inn and puts her to bed in his room. During that first night of their acquaintance he has a vivid dream of killing her there. He wakes to find her gone, and as shown here leaves his room wondering where she is.
