The Ruffians are the requisite comic relief to an occasionally dark series. Every time Bantaro--here, looking a little pale--and his two Monkeys came on the screen, I found myself laughing out loud at Bantaro's efforts to impress Jubei. At the same time, the trio has several very serious and moving scenes toward the end of the series. This setup has one layer each for the monkeys' mouths, one layer for their bodies, and one layer for Bantaro.
