Here's Lain as she appears early in our experience with her - a low-key (ok, *really* low-key), unremarkable schoolgirl. About the only thing memorable about her is her little hair tie.

This cel obviously belongs to my husband. Serial Experiments Lain was his first anime experience and, given his computer-geek / sci-fi background, absolutely absorbed him for quite a long while.
